2. I know we all want to be busy but please don't accept any old job at any old price. You must, must value your time and energy. Before you start running your own courier business you need to have written a business plan which needs to include your profit and loss and this needs to be incorporated into your cashflow. You will fail if you do not put a price on your time and running costs. There are so many people who keep spending their money and time and think they have a business. Not so.

3. Plan your time effectively. This means planning your routes in order to maximize your profits. Ie; you don't want to be dashing from one place to the next in no particular order. You will certainly end up out of pocket oh and slightly mad. Sit down at the beginning of each week and plan your workload - even if you can't plan it all because new jobs will be coming in at least have a skeleton plan. Decide at the beginning which types of journeys fit in with you and will earn you the most money.

4. When you first start your courier driving business you need to set your "terms of credit". This means when you are going to get paid. Set it and stick to it. Do not be pressurized or bullied into changing your terms. If you do this will affect your daily cash flow and you will end up coming unstuck, in debt and possibly out of business.
