Adobe Photoshop gives users the ability to edit digital imaging using tools to touch up images and enhance their creativity. However, Photoshop is a big program with so many features that most people cannot simply purchase the program and begin creating outstanding quality images. Many find the program overwhelming because of its mass amount of tools. It takes proper training to really understand all that Photoshop can offer.

There are different training options available including classroom training and online courses. Junior colleges normally offer Photoshop training and begin at the basic level and work through to advance Photoshop. Junior colleges normally have day and evening classes that they offer. Additionally, art schools offer classes in Photoshop. At both the junior college and art school level, students have hands-on instruction with the help of an instructor.

A newer way in which to take Photoshop training is online. There are many courses available online, but all have the same requirement, you must actually own the Photoshop program, or have access to it. Book knowledge is great, but with a program like Photoshop, the more you use its features, the more comfortable you become and the better the outcome.

Prices vary for Photoshop courses and it is important to look at the school offering the training. If you have to take a class or two, you might as well earn some college credit. So ensure the school is regionally accredited as these credits will transfer to any college or university. If the college credit is not very important to you, at least ensure the course is nationally accredited or state recognized. If taking a class online, ensure the class is from a reputable school, you certainly do not want to waste your money on a course that does not deliver what it promised.

If Photoshop is going to play a huge part in your career, you might consider training through an Adobe Authorized Training Center, since these centers offer training and certification, which looks very attractive on your resume. However, not everyone needs a complete certification program, but it is an option to be aware of if you need it.

When completing a course or a series of courses in Photoshop, you will have a full understanding of what the program can do for you and your career. Many people use Photoshop in their careers, so if this is your aspiration, ensure the school is highly reputable because it looks better on your resume.

Most schools, both online and on-campus award you with a certificate of completion. These special certifications enhance your marketability when searching for employment.

Finally, costs of Photoshop courses vary greatly. Some courses are offered in a series and must be purchased as a package, while others are individual such as at a junior college and you simply enroll in the course of your choice. There are beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of Photoshop training available both online and on-campus.
