Are You Allergic to Food?

You would probably be shocked if you knew exactly how allergic to food you probably are. Many of us that don't experience severe allergic reactions as a result of the foods that we are eating don't ever stop to think that we might be having a problem with allergies in the first place. In reality, however, these different food allergies can cause a number of different health issues that range from rather mild to extremely severe. Somewhere in the middle of these is a difficulty with irritable bowel syndrome, a common occurrence as a result of food allergies and one that many people have.

There are a number of different ways for you to check and see if you are having a problem with food allergies or not. One of the most common of these ways is to simply listen to what your body is telling you after you eat. Many of us that eat out on a regular basis will probably recognize the fact that we are either clearing our throat or having to blow our nose after we are finished eating. This is a common occurrence as a result of histamines that are built up within the body in order to fight the food allergies that we are suffering from. If you recognize this and want to test yourself further, put a pinch of salt underneath your tongue and watch how quickly they disappear. Salt is a natural antihistamine, and it is very powerful.

The problem with this is that we may be dealing with a number of different serious health issues with our digestive health as a result of these food allergies. For example, many of us have an inability to digest milk properly and this is commonly known as lactose intolerance. This can cause anything from constipation or diarrhea to severe abdominal cramps as a result of a build up of gas. It can also be a major trigger for irritable bowel syndrome, which can cause much discomfort in us as well.

In order to overcome these problems, we need to avoid the foods that are giving us a problem in the first place. Try keeping a diary on a regular basis and recording the things that you are eating, along with the way that you are feeling each day. It will not take you long to begin to formulate a plan that will help you to reduce the IBS symptoms that you are experiencing by avoiding the foods that are triggering it.
