The first step in getting the best possible fit is the ear impression. Following your consultation and hearing test, an ear impression is carried out if you decide to purchase a hearing aid. An ear impression allows the audiologist to get an exact mould of the inside of your ear. From this the tech guys will be able to make a hearing aid that is the perfect fit making it totally comfortable and eliminating that chance of whistling that you can get form an ill fitting device.

Following your ear impressions, your hearing aids should be ready for a proper fitting in around 2 weeks. At this stage, you will be invited to a test centre where the audiologist will check that you hearing aids fit comfortably and that you can hear clearly. The audiologist will also check that you are benefiting in the way you need to from your hearing aid - for example are you hearing all of the pitches, tones, letters and volumes that you were unable to hear before.

Of course, there is only so much that can be tested in an office. It is important that you are able to trial your hearing aids in your everyday life in order to make sure they are right for you. With this in mind most reputable hearing aid providers hearing aids are fitted on a sixty day trial basis. Over these sixty days you will be regularly contacted by specialists who will help you to evaluate whether these particular hearing aids are right for you and whether or not they are working at their peak.
