HPV is a virus that infects a lot of people. The Papillome virus, is a group of virus that belongs to the family Papillome viruses. This type of virus is called Papillome virus because it causes formations of warts (which are often harmless). Human Papillome virus, or wart virus, is common and most of the population have some time in life been infected with some sort of genital HPV. Mostly the HPV infection gets well by themselves and most persons do not even notice that they have been infected. But sometimes symptoms show up and in certain cases the infection can lead to dangerous diseases.

Condyloma (genital warts). Some forms of human papillome viruses, HPV, causes warts on mucous membranes of the genital organs, so called condyloma or genital warts. Condyloma is by far the most frequent sexually transferrable diseas. Every tenth woman has been infected during their lifetime. Condyloma is not a serious or dangerous disease, but it can cause trouble when having intercourse, making it very painful and stressful. Condyloma can in most cases disappear by itself. When you treat the disorder, a prescription drug is usually used in form of a cream or a lotion.

Cancer in the genital area can be caused from the virus. About 40 out of the 100 most frequent HPV-forms, attacks the genital area of women. Some of them forms warts or condyloma while others can cause alterations in the cell growth as in turn can lead to cancer in different organs.
