If you already have a sweating problem, and you may have noticed that there is a little bit of extra weight ( or padding ) going around, especially your middle region. You will find that your excessive sweating and weight gain ( sometime a large amount of weight, sometimes a small amount ) will often go hand-in-hand. Not only do you have to contend with your problem of sweating, but you also have to tackle with getting your normal weight back too. There is definitely no reason to feel helpless though, there are a number of options available to you when it comes to what form of treatment you want to try.

(( If enough weight is gained by way of increased body fat deposits, one may become overweight, generally defined as having more body fat (adipose tissue) than is optimally healthy.

Weight gain has a latency period. The effect that eating has on weight gain can vary greatly depending on the following factors:
* exercise regimen;
* amount of water intake;
* amount of salt, fat and sugar contained within the food;
* time of day eaten;
* age of the individual;
* the individual's country of origin;
* an individual's overall stress level;
* and the quantity of water retention in your ankles or your feet.
Typical latency periods vary from three days to two weeks after ingestion.

Being overweight is a common condition, especially where food supplies are plentiful and lifestyles are sedentary. As much as 64% of the United States adult population is considered either overweight or obese, and this percentage has increased over the last four decades. )) - thank you Wikipedia

What Causes Your Excessive Sweating and Weight Gain
A number of different reasons could be responsible for your excessive sweating and weight gain. Most common of all the reasons is something that we have very little opportunity to control. Of course it is your genetics. Your gene code.
Some research, and other studies, have indicated that some excessive sweating problems can tend to be hereditary.

If there are other members of your family that have endured these excessive sweating or abnormal sweating conditions, then it is more likely that you too will develop them, or at least some of them.

As well, if you do happen to have an rather overactive thyroid gland, then this too could be a cause of either your weight gain or your excessive sweating, but please note that this condition of an overactive thyroid could be quite serious for you.

((The thyroid is one of the largest endocrine glands in the body. This gland is found in the neck, inferior to (below) the thyroid cartilage (also known as the Adam's apple) and at approximately the same level as the cricoid cartilage. The thyroid gland controls how quickly the body uses it's energy, makes it's proteins, and controls how sensitive the body should be to other hormones.
The thyroid participates in these processes by producing thyroid hormones, principally thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These hormones regulate the rate of metabolism and affect the growth and rate of function of many other systems in the body. )) - thanks again Wikipedia

The thyroid gland, being located just below the larynx in the front of the neck, could be affected with some certain thyroid diseases in which the thyroid gland enlarges, which can be then be felt and seen as a bump in the neck. Often though, the first indication of thyroid enlargement is a feeling of fullness, or difficulty, when swallowing. If you should notice any symptoms of a change in your thyroid, be certain you make an appointment to see your doctor or medical professional as soon as you can. A smooth working thyroid is vital to your health and well-being.

Some particular foodstuffs have been known to be accountable for excessive sweating and weight gain. This will also include those fatty, greasy and fried foods. Even drinking hot tea and coffee, or any other drink that could contain caffeine or alcohol could also cause you to excessively sweat and gain weight. To cover this eventuality you need to make sure that you do eat a healthy, nutritious diet, one that is high in both fresh fruits and vegetables, lots of them too. The British people love a good 'cuppa' of tea as it makes them sweat which aides in cooling them down. They built their empire on the back of the oriental tea trade.

You need to be careful too of prescription drugs too, as some specific drugs could also cause sweating and weight gain. Different people react differently to some drugs so discuss all side effects with your doctor prior to starting a dose of any prescribed medication.
Some drugs that cause excessive sweating and weight gain may include some anti-psychotic medicines that are used to manage particular symptoms, such as -
* those to treat mental disorders;
* or morphine itself;
* and the use of excess doses of the thyroid hormone thyroxine.

Menopause is quite often forgotten about but it can be a major contributing factor in weight gain and sweating in women. As women go through their 'change-of-life', or more commonly known as menopause, they can experience those 'hot flushes'. These flushes are caused by a sudden rise in their body's temperature, and is normally accompanied by being uncomfortable, excess menopause sweating and a feeling of such intense heat. Menopause has been known to be responsible for excessive weight gain in a lot of women, especially if you are over 45 years of age. At this age, it is more difficult to remove that excess weight too. Other women are lucky enough to go through their menopause displaying very few symptoms what-so-ever.

You must determine what the cause/s of your excessive sweating and weight gain are, this is vitally important. When you have discovered what the cause is, you will then be able to properly treat your problem and thereby work towards discovering the best cure.
