Candida albicans is yeast that occurs naturally in the body and is kept in check by beneficial bacteria in your body. Sometimes the amount present can get out of control, which causes an array of different problems for the sufferer. This can lead to yeast intolerance. In order to restore balance, sufferers should consider starting a diet for Candida to jump-start their bodies into functioning properly once again.
Removing yeast from the diet means staying away from foods like cheese, breads, sugars and fermented foods. Recipes for a Candida-free diet ordinarily do not include a huge variety of ingredients we are used to eating. The main reason is that the best Candida albicans diet is one that is very simple, and consists of only a few ingredients.
First we eliminate foods high in yeast like breads, rolls, cookies, pastries, pretzels and other such delicacies. Then we take away all highly processed and fermented products like pickles, olives, bacon and other pickled meats. Vinegar is also high in yeast and should be avoided as well. Foods like mayonnaise, salad dressing, barbecue sauce, mustard, or pickles should also be avoided. All concentrated sugars should be avoided, even honey and maple syrup. Say no to most chocolate, soft drinks and drink mixes. You must eat only yeast free foods. Starting in three weeks you should see Candida yeast symptoms start to abate.
A good Candida free diet recipe will consist of three very basic and fresh items such as meat, vegetables and a small amount of complex carbohydrate like grains, beans and whole grain pasta. There are many varieties and combinations so you do not have to become bored. I particularly like the wheat free cake.
For example; take four ounces of meat, seasoned with herbs and spices, a portion of vegetables, cooked or raw (for instance, a salad with oil and lemon, not vinegar) and a serving of green beans. Add a cup of brown rice to complete nutritional requirements.
Bake, broil or grill your meats. Use ground buffalo, turkey, or beef. Chicken, most fish, even sardines or tuna is good. Stay away from dried, smoked or pickled meats and cured bacon. A Candida free diet can certainly be extremely tasty.
The largest portion of the meal should be meat. Then the vegetable should be almost an equal amount to the meat and then a small amount of carbohydrates. You may choose not to add any carbohydrates to a meal. Wheat free bread recipes can help here.
Steaming is always the best way for cooking vegetables because it retains more of the nutrients and adds fewer calories. Grilling also adds flavor with few calories.
Try to eat a least four to five small meals a day to keep your blood sugar and hunger under control. Snacking in between meals is okay but be careful to limit how much you eat at a time.
If you are going to snack, eat raw vegetables or nuts. Stay away from nuts like peanuts and pistachios and limit yourself to three fruits. Avoid grapes, raisins, dates, prunes and figs as these have high-sugar content. Do try the wheat free bread recipe. If you are hungry a lot, you can graze throughout the day on green apples, carrot sticks, raw broccoli and asparagus, and celery sticks etc. Fresh leafy green vegetables can be added to in large quantities to your diet and will also help to clear out the dead and dying yeast cells and other toxins from your body. In this way you will be killing Candida.
