Many people suffer from haemorrhoids and while they are certainly not life-threatening, they are very painful and uncomfortable. Over half of those over 50 will have this problem on a regular basis and many others who are younger will also suffer as well. There are many things that can be done in order to get rid of the pain and the swelling and these can either be done at home or by getting in touch with your doctor. As such, let's consider a few ways of getting relief from your hemorrhoid pain.
One of the top things you should make sure of is that your diet is right so that you can reduce constipation and therefore minimise straining. In order to do this it is important that you always have enough fibre in your diet and also that you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day as well.
It is also a good idea to look into soaking the affected area on a regular basis. If you have a small bath and soak the area in warm water for about 20 minutes several times a day then this will reduce the swelling and pain.
Using an ice pack or a cold pack is a good idea as well. You should apply this to the affected area and immediately you will get some relief from the pain that you suffer from and at the same time the swelling will begin to go down. If ever you use an ice pack, always cover it in a cloth first of all.
Any of these remedies should help to do the trick but if they do not then you should then get in touch with your local doctor so that you can get a proper diagnosis of a problem and get some further options for different remedies that you can choose from. There may also be a larger problem that is causing the haemorrhoids to appear and therefore you need to get your doctors professional opinion on this.
These sorts of treatments that you will be offered from your doctor will vary and therefore you need to choose the right one depending on the seriousness of your condition. Such things as creams and ointments can be got on prescription, but you also may need to have some surgery to get rid of the problem once and for all.
When all is said and done it is crucial that the problem does not reappear. As such you should make sure you focus on eating the right foods, drinking the right amount of liquid, and getting enough exercise.
