What Are Some Tips For Thickening Your Hair?

Has your hair started to thin out from over styling or over processing? Are you worried that it's going to continue to get worse? Try these suggestions to help with hair thickening.
1. One way to get fuller thicker hair is with extensions. As you layer extensions on top of one another they create the appearance of thicker hair.
2. It's natural to lose some hair, but being rough with your hair can cause additional hair loss.
3. If possible, don't pull your hair into tight hairdos like braids and cornrows; even tight ponytails should be avoided. Instead of using rubber bands and elastics, use butterfly clips and loose braids.
4. When you brush your hair, brush it carefully and gently. If you possess wavy or curly hair, you should use a wide tooth brush and comb so it doesn't pull on the strands.
5. To help with hair thickening, don't pile your hair on the top of your head when you shampoo. This can create knots in the hair. Always finger brush your hair before using a hair brush to help untangle it. When brushing, begin at the ends using one hand to hold your hair while the other hand brushes. Doing so prevents tugging at the roots.
6. Any styling tools that pull at your roots can lead to hair loss. This includes rollers, curling irons, and straightening irons. It's a small thing but it really can help with keeping your hair from getting thin.
7. Either avoid or at least try not to dye or chemically treat your hair too often. Treatments like colour, tint, bleaches, straighteners and permanent waves can all hurt your hair. They weaken the strand and increase the possibility of breakage.
8. Vitamins also help with hair thickening. Most people don't get enough of the right vitamins through diet alone, so it's important to take a vitamin supplement. When used consistently, you will see improved hair in a couple of months.
9. If you have an iron deficiency you may have thin hair or even have hair falling out. Those women who tend to have a heavy menstrual cycle are more likely to have an iron deficiency. Make sure you have been diagnosed with this deficiency before taking any iron supplements as they can irritate your stomach and cause severe constipation. Having too much iron in your system can be dangerous; so eating iron rich foods like tofu, lentils, beans, oysters, spinach, prunes, raisins and lean beef is enough. If you must, take a multivitamin that contains iron.
10. Eat foods that are rich in vitamin C, especially for those who are vegetarians. When eating iron rich foods, the vitamin C will help the body to absorb it.
11. Try to avoid dramatic weight loss; the faster you lose weight, the more hair you will lose. To get thicker hair, diets of low fat and protein are also low in iron and can cause too much weight loss too quickly. Make sure you maintain a healthy diet and balance out your weight loss.
12. Hair growth is cyclical. For most people, the hair growth phase is 2-5 years followed by a rest period of 3-5 months. Once the rest phase is over, the hair will shed and new growth will start. Your percentage of resting hair is about 15%. Changing your diet can alter the entire cycle.
13. Stress can actually lead to irreversible hair loss so it's important to have stress relievers in your life. It takes 3-4 weeks for the results of stress to show up in your hair.
