Affiliate marketing continues to be the method most newbies use to start making money on the Internet, and this continues to be the way I still make about half of my income each month.

When I first started making money using this technique back in 2006 I always thought I would do less as an affiliate marketer once I had my own products. Instead, this is an excellent way to provide valuable products and services to your prospects and clients over a period of time. It is best to look for affiliate products that make sense to your prospects. For example, if you provide a product or service in two or three different areas, look for products to promote that will fill in the gaps. This may be difficult to picture if you are just getting started online.

The way I like to think about it is that I can only create valuable products that cover a few topics. My prospects want complimentary products, so I choose to promote affiliate products created by people who are experts in the areas that I am not.

This works very well for me, my prospects, and the creator of the product I am promoting. Everyone wins with this business model. All affiliate programs are not created equal, so make sure to purchase what you promote to make sure your prospects will receive the same type of quality and customer service that you provide. Also, check your statistics regularly when you promote someone else's product to make sure you are paid in full on the date each month they send out their affiliate payments.

I have found that once I am paid correctly two months in a row by someone, I never have to keep such close tabs on them again. You will want to promote some affiliate products that produce a recurring income. This gives you a stream of online income that pays you month in and month out for as long as someone remains in the program, whatever that may be.

The example I will share is the shopping cart I use and promote as an affiliate. Each time someone signs up through my link, I begin to receive a small amount of affiliate commission each month they remain as a customer. Even though I only receive a few dollars each month for each person who signed up through me, this money begins to add up in a very short time. I even teach people how to set up their shopping cart on a one hour webinar each month, as my way of repaying them and helping them to remain as customers. You can earn a steady stream of income through affiliate marketing.
