People always want to follow the latest thing, be it in fashion, sports, a hobby, you know, those kind of things. Today, having a website has become a necessity. Just about everyone has has a website. Companies, small businesses, individuals and even young adults or teenagers, have created their websites. They may not be all for profit, as some people just have a website for entertainment purposes, but regardless, they have a site of their own.

Before you decide to have your own website, you have to think of the things that are involved in having a website first. For starters, a website will cost you money, it is not free. You can get free templates for your site, but the bottom line is, you have hosting costs to think about. Secondly, maintaining the site... Are you going to purchase something only to use it once and never look at it again? If so, don't waste your time or money creating a site. If you're going to put in the efforts to create the site, actually do something with it. Even if its for entertainment. Just use it.

Ok, now lets go over some of those things I mentioned above. Lets start out with the cost. There are several hosting companies out there. You want to find one that is affordable. You don't want to spend too much money, but if the hosting company is charging you too little, then you may want to wonder why. It would be a shame if you did a lot of work to your site and then your server was down. You want to go with a hosting company that has great customer support. For example, I use d9Hosting. Next thing to decide is if you're going to hire a professional to create your site or if you are going to create it on your own. Is it better to hire a professional? Is it worth it? If your site is going to be basic and pretty simple then you may want to consider using a simple program to help walk you through creating your site or a training course like mine, that can walk you step by step through the process and help you gain the knowledge of your websites ins and outs. You also want to consider the design of your site. Again, myself or other programs can walk you through these steps.

However, if your website is going to be a bit more complex, maybe for your business, you may want to hire someone to help you or take the time to learn these things for yourself. If it's for your business, you may want to keep in mind that security should be considered when creating your site.

So, having considered the things to do before building a website, do we actually NEED one?
