Whenever we experience failure in our lives, our first inclination is to blame something or someone else. We do a lot of finger pointing. The system doesn't work. My upline doesn't help me. The company isn't helping me. The excuses are unlimited. However, while we are doing all the finger pointing we forget that the rest of our fingers are pointing right at the main source of our problem, us.
The main problem with trying to blame someone or something else is that it is unlikely that you are going to be able to change someone or something else that you are trying to blame. The only things you can control are things that involve you directly. If things aren't working the way you want, why aren't they working the way you want? Maybe there is a problem with the system or the company, but once you've eliminate those potential issues, what is left? The way you are communicating!
Are you really communicating effectively? If you are talking to prospects and no one is signing up what are you saying to them? How are you saying it? Sometimes communication problems are not so easy to solve or even figure out. You have done all the training, you have worked out what you are going to say to a prospect, you practice what you want to say, but it still is not working. How can you make changes in your communications? What changes should you even make?
By now, you are probably ready to scream "help!" You are frustrated and angry, but there are ways to work on your communication skills besides losing your potential downline while you practice. The first and easiest way is to have someone else listen to you. This can be a friend, someone else in the business with you—pretty much anyone. Sometimes it is good to get someone who isn't in the business so you can tell if you are really saying things in a way that is understood. (People in the business will tend to "fill in the blanks" for you.) More importantly, are you saying things in a ways that makes them want to join your business?
There is nothing more important than communication, particularly in a network marketing business. Without effective communication, you will continue to struggle and so will your business. Take the time to train, to practice and to consistently and constantly work on your communication skills and watch your business grow.
