Jeans are the most versatile item in the wardrobe, we wear them everywhere from the best restaurants to the cinema or even riding a horse. Choosing the right jeans though, can be a nightmare, especially if you have a few bits you'd rather not show off. We don't really care if we have a big butt, we just don't want it to look bigger than what it actually is. Here are a few tips that may even enhance the look of your tush while wearing jeans. It's all in the art of optical illusion.
Tip 1 - Avoid Small Back Pockets
If you have small back pockets, there is more denim material around the rest of your bottom, emphasising your larger bottom. It's a matter of relativity, your but is big in relation to the pockets. Look for jeans that have larger pockets on the back, as these will make it seem as if your bottom is small in relation to the pockets.
Tip 2 - Avoid Rounded Pockets
If you want to emphasise the curves of your butt, by all means buy jeans with rounded back pockets that show the same curve line as your bottom cheeks. However, if you want to make your butt look smaller in a pair of jeans, choose a style with pointed or shaped pockets that do not follow the curves of your bottom.
Tip 3 - Avoid the High Waist
Look for jeans with a low cut waist as this is favourable for women with larger butts. While very low waisted jeans are not on trend as they were a couple of years ago, you can still find jeans with a moderately low waist. Like the first tip, the idea is to have less "extra" material around the bottom, which gives an illusion that the bottom is smaller than it is. A high waist will accentuate your bottom by drawing the eye to the butt.
Tip 4 - Try Darker Denim
Light blue denim will accentuate and highlight your curves while darker blues or black jeans will make your butt look smaller. Nearly everyone knows the old trick of wearing black to make you look smaller. Well let me tell you; it applies not only to black, but to all darker colours including the darker denims. So if you want to minimize the size of your butt, go for darker denim.
Tip 5 - Avoid the Faded Denim on the Buttocks
A fairly recent trend is for darker shades of denim to have pre-faded sections or lighter patches. Don't buy jeans with a faded patch on the tush, as this may draw a persons attention to this area. If you want faded jeans, look for ones with the faded section on your legs, rather than on your butt. Remember that any lighter shades will accentuate that area and make it look larger.
Tip 6 - Jeans that shape your Butt
All jeans are different and they will all shape your butt differently depending on where the material is most generous. So find a pair of jeans that shapes your butt the way you like it most.
Tip 7 - Avoid the Embroidery on the Back
Any embroidery or pattern on your jeans will draw the eye. If you do not want to accentuate your backside, avoid buying any jeans that have a pretty embroidery pattern there. The embroidery will just highlight your butt and that is not what we want. If you like the look of embroidery, have it on the front or down the leg.
Wearing dark jeans with large square pockets and a low waist that shape your bottom the way you like it, with no fading or embroidery on your butt will make you look great again in jeans. So don't give up wearing jeans just yet, they are the staple to your casual wardrobe.
